#TGPNPC ~ Glow In The Dark

Hello Dahlings!

 

Now y'all may have noticed that I have a thing for gitd polish.

So my challenge for the prompt was more about which untrieds to use

rather than do I have one to use.

 

 Actually, I did know what I wanted to do for this prompt.

I didn't need to think too hard at all.

 Da line up #1 ~ Princessa 05, 02, 24, 01 21 & 15

 

 Da line up #2 ~ Princessa 16, 17, 08, 06, 23 & 03

Da #'s are on da bottles, but I had to look da names up.

What I found was pretty much useless due to da general lack of creativity.

Red, orange, orange, yellow, green, green, blue, blue, purple etc...

 

 I started with 2 coats of Nina Ultra Pro French White undies.

I almost could have gotten away with one coat!

I had heard that da NUP was a good white

& thought to give it a try.

It is & this is it's debut on my blog,

so it counts as another untried off da pile!

After this had dried, I used a bit of sponge

to add da gradient by dabbing on 3 layers.

(I painted a stipe of each color on da sponge,

dabbed it on & when it was mostly dry

looked to see what colors needed another layer.

I added just those colors to da sponge 

& did it again for da 3rd coat.)

 

The Princessa gitds are more cool toned than da Nabis.

Both are sheer jellies, so white undies are recommended.

The Princessa are a bit more runny than da Nabis,

but both work well & come in value priced sets on Amazon.

 

I added some nail art stickers from Pueen

& a coat of Seche Vite to seal in da glowy goodness.

I couldn't pose my thumb well enuf to get a good pic of it in full dark.

This is another mani I wish I had on both hands,

but I'll take my gitd any way I can get it!

Mom had fed her earlier,

so she wasn't hungry, just really curious.

 

Glow eyes!

Lil Miss jumped up onto da counter to see what was up there

& I surprised her by taking her pic. Her lil tail is all bushy!

#TGPNPC ~ Holo!

Hello Dahlings!

 

Today's holo mani is a 3fer!

1) It's the prompt for The Glittah Pirates FB group

2) I can show it to Fingers Freakin Holo Freaks FB group

3) I can show it to The Devil Wears Polish FB fan group

 

I gots to share dat holo luv with da world!

 

 These lil dahings are The Devil Wears Polish Snow Day,

The Big Bang Theory & Paint It Black

in my pseudo signature double line funky french mani.

(Paint It Black is also my all time fav Rolling Stones song!)

 

 This is 2 coats of pastel-ish blurple holo goodness

in the form of The Big Bang Theory.

It went on smooth with no patching,

dragging or other annoying holo bad habits.

Tami knows her mixology very well indeed!

(She's even working on a neon purple holo!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!)

A month or so ago my mom came to visit

& brought Ciri's girlfriend with her.

Lil Miss Dee decided she really likes our cat tree...

#TGPNPC ~ Vampy!

Hello Dahlings!

 

The word Vampy brings to my mind all kinds of dark campy fun...

think Elvira, think The Rocky Horror Picture Show...

With that thought in mind, this is what I did for today's mani...

 

 The Lady Varnishes Antici...

 

 ...Pation

Both are from da RHPS Collection that has since sold out & been retired.

(Sorry! This is bound to happen when digging up

from da bottom of da Never Ending Pile.)

 

 Da line up ~ Nabi Metallic Wine Red 143,

TLV Antici... & ...Pation

& Nabi Metallic Black.

 

 2 coats of the Nabis as undies.

I could have gone with 1 coat,

but I prefer to use 2 just so everything is even & smooth.

I got these 2 as part of a 30 bottle set on Amazon for cheap!

($1.36 per bottle including s/h!)

27 out of the 30 passed my Does It Stamp? test

& I've putzed with da 3 that didn't pass

enuf that they stamp now too.

(I just added some silver foil polish to 1 of them

& gold foil to da other 2 to make them more opaque.) 

 

 After adding 2 coats of Antici... & ...Pation to my nails, 

I added a coat of Seche Vite then stamped using da Metallic Black

using this image from Bunny Nails HD - D plate...

to create what turned out to be invisible nail art!

 

 If you look very, very, closely at da reddish nail on da right...

you just might be able to see da eye holes of a skull.

Maybe.

 

Oh well. All da polishes performed very well,

(Except da black wanted to stain my skin a lil,

but it stamped so well & didn't smear that I forgive it.)

my idea just didn't have enuf contrast to work.

Freakin' Weekly Challenge ~ Yellow

Hello Dahlings!

 

This week's color for da Fingers Freakin Holo Freaks is Yellow!

Yellow is my least fav color of all colors.

There's nothing wrong with yellow,

in fact, I use it in my card designs regularly.

It just looks awful on me.

My skin reflects it in a way that looks jaundiced.

It's just not fair to a pretty, bright, 

& cheerful color to put it near my skin.

 

All that babble aside...I agreed to do this challenge

& am willing to take one for da team..

You can't say I didn't warn you...

 

 This is 2 coats of Nabi Gold 03 in indoor lighting.

If you've followed any of my adventures with Nabi,

you may recall that they name things oddly,

but the $1.50 or less price per bottle

for their 24pc polish sets on Amazon

makes them worth the odd color names,

occasionally missing color labels etc.

In this case...the label says gold, but that sure looks yellow to me.

When I break a nail,

I do a proper job of it by breaking it nigh on to da nail line.

Thankfully it didn't hurt or bleed this time!

I'm glad I did these nails last Thursday night,

cuz not long after I took this pic Friday morning

the clouds rolled in

& it's been dumping since Friday night with only lil breaks.

#TGPNPC ~ Use the Most Untrieds in One Mani!

Hello Dahlings!

 

Today's prompt is another one that stirred up lots of chatter

in da Glittah Pirates FB group!

 

How does one go about using a lot of polish in one go?

Several Pirates used tape while some did things like

clouds & other nail art designs.

 

I went for this...

 

 ...a braided mani where every strand crossover is a dif color!

I used all of my less expensive untried linear holos.

(no indies or Jades)

I used 40 bottles of untried polish for this mani!!!

 

A few words about da brands used today ~

 

Born Pretty Store

Ordering from da BPS is usually a really inexpensive way

to get your paws on nifty polish & nail art bling

and they offer free international shipping.

While their house brand of holo polish is a decent quality,

da list price is WAY too high for a 6ml bottle. ($12.88)

If you'd like to add these to your stash, get their newsletter email

so you'll know when they are on sale.

 

China Glaze

Generally a good brand that's available in many places.

Alas, da 2013 holos released last summer were a bit of a flop.

Da colors are pretty & they did offer some darker colors

not easily found in mainstream holos at da time,

but the rainbows are so wimpy

as to seem non-existent most of da time.

They are almost one coaters,

so maybe I can use them to stamp & for other nail art.

 

Nabi

I can admit that I have a hard time

passing on Nabi's polish sets on Amazon US!

I wasn't too thrilled with this set at first

cuz da rainbows are on da wimpy side,

(they're stronger than da CG 2013 holos, but not by much)

but da pretty colors have grown on me as I've used them.

There are better quality holos out there costing more,

but these are a good value & work well for nail art.

 

Sally Hansen

A good decade plus ago,

SH had a line of specialty polishes called Nail Prisms.

Some were duo chromes & some were holos.

At the time, these types of polish were very hard to find!

Compared to modern holos,

these seem tame but they still look pretty.

Up Colors

These are an imported brand I got thru Llarowe

They're ok. Not da best rainbow, but pretty.

Also, say good bye to my claws...

 I got my family room carpet pro cleaned yesterday. 

When da carpet cleaner & I went to put da TV back,

I slipped as I stepped from da damp carpet to da vinyl

and smacked my left pinky nail right off on an end table.

(Fortunately, we hadn't picked up da TV yet.)

I left my lefty hand nails longs so I could do today's mani,

but da right hand got trimmed back last night

& da left will be joining it soon.

I'll be rocking da shorties until they can grow back.
