12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge ~ Gifts

Hello Dahlings!

 

As you can see, we're on the 6th challenge day & we're half way done! I've really enjoyed myself & am pretty sure I'll continue to do so. Many thanks to
Kristine & Lorene for hosting!!!

 

Tonight's line up zig zagging from left to right: Ruby Kisses Whiter Than White, Snow White, African Violet, Mardi Gras, Cast A Spell, Twilight Zone, Teal Envy & Steel Magnolia; plus Orly Be Brave. I was going for an all Ruby Kisses mani, but alas, I don't have a pink holographic bar glitter polish from Ruby Kisses.

 

This is 2 coats of Whiter Than White. It isn't streaky to apply nor does it dry to a chalky finish like many white polishes.

 

This is 2 coats of Snow White over Whiter Than White. Like most light colored, shimmery polishes, this one does benefit from a pair of white undies if one doesn't want to apply umpteen coats to achieve opacity & remove VNL.

 

Ta Da! OK, so not my best nails ever, but I think I did a reasonable job. I used my detail brush to place the bar glitters where I wanted them to create the ribbons & bows. I used the brushes in the bottles to paint the boxes & polish bottle, then used my short striper brush to straighten things.

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art ~ Holiday Movie

Hello Dahlings!

It's the 5th day of our challenge & we're on Holiday Movie nails!

This one had me stumped, but think I managed.

Tonight's line up: China Glaze Stone Cold, L.A. Colors Bright Green & Baby Pink,

Stripe Rite gold & silver, & Nail Fetish Solitaire.

This is ONE coat of Stone Cold! It's rare to find a true one coat polish that you don't have to glob on & wait forever for it to dry. It not only dries fast, it has a lovely matte finish.

After much internal debate I picked 'It's a Wonderful Life'. It's one of my all time fav holiday movies & it's a great annual reminder that we touch each other's lives in many small precious ways. On my pinky & ring fingers I have Zuzu's flower & petals; my middle finger shows a bell with wings above it; my index finger is the moon lassoed by George Baily for his beloved Mary. I didn't want to gloss over Stone Cold's matte finish,

so no Seche Vite this time.

When I break a No Buy...

Hello Dahlings!

 

Alas, I've been on a No Buy for a few weeks. (insert sad face here) I didn't just break it last weekend, I think I may have shattered it beyond repair. I have a few more pics this time than I usually post, so if you aren't in da mood for photo spam...move along.

 

My polish frenzy started last Saturday with a trip to Sally Beauty Supply. I put this visit off a week cuz of my no buy. I had been a wee bit worried that they'd be out of the 2 CG Cirques I had a lemming for, but I lucked out! I got China Glaze Whirled Away & Creative Fantasy, Color Club Berry & Bright and Snowflakes (on sale!), plus China Glaze Angel Wings & Red Pearl. (believe it or not, I didn't have a shimmery red in my stash)

 

On Sunday Mr Inky & I went for Dim Sum & right next door is a beauty supply store called Living Color. They had all of their polish on sale!n (insert swoon here) The Ruby Kisses were only $2.29 each!!! (usually they're about $5) Starting with the back left bottle & zig zagging across, we have: Hot & Sexy, Red Hot Chili Pepper, She a Goldigger, Where's the Party?, Bold & the Beautiful, Pitch Black Darkness & Whiter than White. (those aren't typos, that's how the names are spelled on the labels)

 

Followed by: Twinkling Mauve, Cool Bronze, Millionaire Green, Steel Magnolia, Snow White, Solid Copper & Shiny Peach.

 

Followed by: Teal Envy, Orange U Jealous, Tropical Green, Neon Green, Pink Goddess & Pink Hot Pants. Yeah, I went a wee bit cray cray, but at that price...how could I not?

 

Today I found this 4 pack of Revlon polishes at Grocery Outlet for $4.99!!! They had other color & finish options in 4, 5 & 6 packs. This one had colors I like: Oh My Magenta, Silver Screen, Temptress & Devilish.

 

I guess I'm back on my no buy now? Maybe? I'll try? Frau Meyer is not amused cuz when I play with my polish, I'm not petting her royal hiney-ness.

It's the Holly Days!

Hello Dahlings!

 

Tis the season of cheerful insanity! When I saw this VIDEO from Professional DQ for her Pop Art Christmas Nails yesterday, I knew I wanted to try them!

 

The line up: L.A. Colors Energy Source, Essie Pure Pearlfection, Klean Color Metallic Green & Metallic Red, L.A. Colors Electricity.

 

I normally have a swatch of the base color between the line up & the finished mani pics, but my phone decided to go to bed early. So it was a choice of not finishing my nails last night so I could get that shot or finishing them & skipping that pic. I opted for the later & will just tell you what I did. I started with 2 coats of Energy Souce & it really needs 3 for full opacity. I then added 2 coats of Pure Pearlfection. PP is a sheer top coat so the white undies were needed. I then used the large ball of my dotting tool to add the holly berries & my detail brush to add the word using Metallic Red. Next I used the same detail brush with the Metallic green to add the holly leaves. The small ball of my dotting tool & the Electricity were used for the lil polka dots. After everything was dry to the touch, I finished with a coat of Seche Vite & noticed that while the Klean Color polishes didn't exactly bleed, they do seem to have lil halos around some of the elements in those colors.

12 Days of Holiday Nail Art Challenge ~ Snowmen

We're on day 4 & it's snowman nail time!

 

Tonight's line up: Sally Hansen Blue, Milani White on the Spot & Stripe Rite black.

 

This is 2 coats of Blu. I love the HD line & was a wee bit bummed when Sally Hansen retired it earlier this year. I understand clearing the old to make room for the new, but look at that blue!

 

Ta Da! I decided that a traditional snowman wasn't in it for me this year. LOL I used a dotting tool to build my snowcat & snowy French tips & the brush in the black nail art polish for the details.

12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge ~ Candy Cane

Hello Dahlings!

 

Whew! I am one tired Inky tonight, even my whiskers are drooping. LOL I've been watching a neighbor's daughter after school all week & tonight, right after I left their house, I had to leave again for a Stampin' Up! workshop for 8 moms & 10 teen age girls, all of whom are into 4H & horses. We had lots of fun, but I'm glad it only lasted 3 hours. On to the nails...

 

On the 3rd day of challenge, our nail art aught to be...Candy Canes!

 

Tonight's line up: Orly Day Glow, L.A. Colors Metallic Pink, Stripe Rite silver & black. The Day Glow shows a hint of blue shimmer that totally fails to be seen on the nail, but I'm ok with that cuz it applies easily & is a nice cool toned white.

 

This is 2 coats of Day Glow, no top coat. The 1st coat is as streaky & patchy as one can expect with a white polish, but the 2nd coat smoothes this all out & dries to a nice semi gloss.

 

Ta Da! I used my trusty short striping brush to do the Metallic Pink lines cuz the brush in the bottle was weird. I then went back with my striper (after cleaning it of course) & straightened the lines using Day Glow. Once the stripes dried to the touch I added Seche Vite to my nails, except the ring fingers. My stripes are a bit whimsical (read: wonky), but at arms length they look pretty good. LOL  I used my large ball dotting tool to make the center of my bows & the nice thin brushes in the Stripe Rite polishes to paint the remainder of the bows & out line them. Once dry, they too got a coat of Seche Vite. It doesn't really show in the pics, but the L.A. Colors Metallic Pink smeared a lil under the SV, even tho I waited about 15 minutes to apply TC.
