Monday Quickie ~ There's A Neon Light...

There's a light (over at the Frankenstein Place)
There's a light (burning in the fire place)
There's a light, in the darkness, of every body's life.

Dahlings, be very, very grateful you don't have to hear me sing! LMBBO
(tho if you want to hear da whole song, go HERE)

Today's quickie is a polish I'm thrilled I got before it sold out.

The Lady Varnishes There's a Light...
from da Rocky Picture Horror Show Anniversary Collection
2 coats of scatter holo, thermal color changing, glow-the-dark perfection!
There's only one thing missing...

 NEON TRIANGLES!
(with a coat of Seche Vite & loads of cuticle lube)

I got this wheel chock full of metal neon painted triangles from She Sells Seashells
See how my pinky is light gray with a slight darkening at da tip
& da rest of my nails are darker?
That's da thermal ingredient in action!
(why my pinky was warm & da rest of my fingers were cold is just weird,
but hey, so am I!)

 Under black light...
I don't know why da blue triangles look like they're bleeding
cuz they don't look like this in da light?

...and in da sink.
Da lil speckles are da gitd bits.
I think I needed to shake da bottle more before painting my nails.
It certainly glowed more than this while I was on my way to bed.

Oh! Oh! Oh!

Here's your reward for scrolling down this far...
Ciri's 1st baby pic!
You can see da lil scratch he had under his left eye when my son rescued this lil guy a year ago from under a bush in da pouring winter rain. He was SO tiny & scared! We are grateful every day that we were able to bring Cirrus home with us when our son died. Having this living connection helps a lot.

Show & Tell ~ Vivid Lacquer!

Hello Dahlings!

For this week's Show & Tell I have both plates & polishes from Vivid Lacquer!
I started my shopping on da Sunday 'twixt black Friday
& cyber Monday with some sale polish...

Don't ya just love a good sale?

Theoretical Gamer

Theoretical Statue

Theoretical Blogger

Mega Slut (more neon-ish in person)

Murdered By Pirates Is Good

Then on cyber Monday Vivid Lacquer released a bunch of new stamping plates!
They weren't on sale & no, I didn't get them all, just da ones I really liked
& knew I would use.

 VL 016

 VL 017

 VL 019

 VL 020

 VL 023

I left da blue film on cuz it helps cut da glare when taking pics.
You do need to remove this plastic before using any stamping plate.
I find either pulling my thumb across da edge
or using a pointy tool makes getting this film off a wee bit easier.

I also picked up both da squishy XL & firm XL stampers Vivid Lacquer carries.
Da one I have from Mash is ok, but it doesn't always transfer da whole image
& when my nails are longish, it isn't big enuf.
So I will be comparing these 2 against each other, da one from Mash
& a Pueen stamper in da near future.
(da Pueen set came with da plates I ordered off Amazon months ago.)

Oh, just to let you know: Vivid Lacquer is on vaca until January 2nd.

Sinfully Klean Gleequins!

Hello Dahlings!

I did this mani a couple of weeks ago, but since it's more wintery than Christmasy,
I decided to save it for after da holidays. Here we go...

Da line up ~ Kleancolor Metallic Aqua & Sinful Colors Ice Dream

 1 coat of Metallic Aqua
(all of the Kleancolor Metallic line can be used for stamping,
tho' you need to give it some extra drying time when you stamp with it
or use it for nail art cuz it's prone to smearing when applying top coat)

On da left is 2 coats of Ice Dream & on da right is one coat.
3 coats would make this polish a full coverage glitter bomb.

Round 2 line up ~ Orly Top2Bottom dual base/top coat,
a metal piercing/placement tool
& a jar of silver hexagon gleequins from a set of 12 from Born Pretty Store.
Tho' da price is good, like $7ish for 12 jars in different colors, da quality is iffy. Quite a few were cut off da true so da hexes had 2 perpendicular sides longer than da other 4 sides. There are like a bazzilion bits in each jar, so it's not a big deal, but sorting thru' them for properly cut ones (if I want to do a honeycomb) might get a wee bit tedious. Also, I use this particular polish for attaching bling cuz
1) I have it
2) it sucks as a top coat cuz it dries very thin with a rather dull finish
(I have my own custom blend base coat that I prefer)
& 3) it does a reasonably decent job of holding bling in place
until I can seal it in with Seche Vite.

I applied 2 coats of Ice Dream on my pinky, middle & index fingers.
I then used the dual tc/bc to attach da gleequins & I placed them randomly using da pointy tool dipped in da clear polish. I didn't try to place them in an interlocking honeycomb pattern (tho' this looks totally kewl when you have the endurance to do so) I just tried to fill da spaces to create a stylized blizzard effect.
I applied one coat of Seche Vite to finish.

End wear report ~  I had a smidge of tip wear at da corners,
but not bad for one coat.
However...

...I learned that when placing gleequins you don't want them too close to da edge & 2 coats of tc are recommended to secure them. I lost 3 off my right thumb in da first 24 hours, tho' I didn't lose any off da other fingers.

Yes, I'm that crazy cat lady you've heard about but wasn't sure really existed. LOL
This is one of my across da street neighbor's cats at my back door. Like many a kitty before her, she'd really like to come in for a visit. Peeps have asked why all da neighborhood cats like to hang out in my yard.
Could it be da bowls of water I have out for them?
Or maybe it's da large catnip bush in my back yard?
Mr Inky says it's cuz I'm a cat magnet.

Here's a gardening tip if you'd like to have catnip survive in your yard: when planting your catnip plant, place a 3 ring tomato cage over it so da smallest ring is about 2" off da ground. This will support da plant so it doesn't sprawl all over when top heavy with blooms as well as keep cats from chewing it to da ground then rolling on it. My current plant gets up to 4' high with an 8' spread & I've had it for about 4 years. It gets seriously chewed on every year, but da core of da plant is safe.
You can see a winter pic of it with Ciri in da Monday post from earlier this week.

Merry Christmas Dahlings!

Merry Christmas Dahlings!

With all da festive chaos this week, I'm keeping my posts short & sweet sassy.
Let's get to it so you can go do other stuff too...

 Meowy Christmas!

Da line up ~ I Love Nail Polish A Fresh Evergreen from their 2013 Holiday Collection
& these adorable Santa Kitty stickers I got from She Sells Seashells

I started with 2 coats of A Fresh Evergreen.
Like all of da ILNP polishes I've tried so far, this one was like painting my nails with melted butter! I could have gotten away with one coat, but did 2 just in case I missed a spot or something. It's not da strongest holo in my collection, but very lovely none da less. Da only teensy flaw was a tendency to stain a bit, requiring a wee bit more effort in clean up.

These are da rest of da nail art stickers I chose to use
followed by a coat of Seche Vite.
A quick & cute mani for da holidays!

>^..^<
A lil Turkey weekend kitty spam for your holiday viewing pleasure!

Mickey on da left & his sister Lil Miss on da right,
playing tug o' war 'tween Mr Inky's legs.

Ciri isn't too sure 'bout joinin' da fun.

 Mickey has no such qualms!

Lil Miss can't pass on grabbing a moving string
(or Mr Inky's leg) with her claws.

Maybe these big feets aren't so scary...maybe?

 kick kick kick

 bite bite bite

 more kicking

 more biting
(da boys aren't sure why she's so into Mr Inky's feets)

Why she chewing on my fav chew toy...it's MINE!

Big scary feets conquered at last!

Wouldn't a shopping spree
at a fabulous multi brand on line store
be a great way to start 2014?
You know what you need to do, right?

Thanks for stopping by!

Monday Quickie ~ Shirley Anne Shot Gun Wedding

Hello Dahlings!

For your Monday Quickie I have wintery holiday themed mani
that is super simple, but fun!

Da line up: Sally Hansen Great White

 2 coats of Great White.
I'm unimpressed.
While it does have a subtle white/pink/green micro glitter shimmer to it in the bottle, this doesn't really show on da nail. It just looks like a semi-sheer pearly white. It also requires at least 3 if not 4 coats for full opacity or white undies. It went on ok, but is so underwhelming that I was glad I had picked it for undies rather than having it show.
(I can see myself frankening this one at some point.)

I made it all better with 2 coats of Shot Gun Wedding! This polish was easy to apply evenly. No fishing required tho I did dab some of da larger shards to get them where I wanted them. I then added these adorable polymer clay lavender & white candy canes I got from She Sells Seashells
& right now Swishie has her winter holiday nail art embellishments on sale!

End wear report: Alas, da SH Great White doesn't wear well either. I had not only tip wear but tip chipping that left noticeable (to me) rough edges on da tips. If you squint closely at my thumb you might see da lil bump on da inside edge wear some of da polish came off, near da end of da candy cane. This kind of thing bugs me to no end! I was almost happy to take this polish off.
Da good news? I was able to remove & clean da lil candy canes after a short acetone soak! I'll be able to use them again cuz polymer clay doesn't get funky from contact with nail polish remover.
