Weird Wednesdays ~ Nail Wrap Fail

Hello Dahlings!

So with this crazy family filled week I thought doing some nail wraps would be good for a quick mani change & with all da cute Halloween sets available,
da biggest prob should have been picking which one I wanted to wear.
I should have known it wouldn't be that easy. LOL

Da line up: L.A. Colors Energy Source 656 & Sinful Colors Glow In The Dark

Plus these cute nail wraps from Kiss! Each pack comes with 28 wraps in diff sizes...that's enuf for a mani/pedi or 2 manis with leftovers for accent nails for only $7. (I was just in Walgreen's today & da Halloween wraps are now 25% off!)

This is 2 coats of Energy Source. This is a pretty decent white polish for only $1.99 (or $1 if you have L.A. Colors at your local Dollar Tree!) & it stamps too.
Please pardon my fried cuticles! I love October for da cooler weather & Halloween fun, but my nails & skin hate the weather change. Last year I got lucky & survived October without any breaks. Not this year. Blerg. My nails have finally grown out from a pinkie nubbin on my left hand  (I trimmed them all back until da shorty grew out) & now I have a patched peelie chunk on da corner of my left thumb & a patched diagonal crack on my right ring. I miss my long nails & will now have to wait even longer to get them back. Waaaa!!!!

OK, enuf whinging. LOL After I applied da Energy Source I added a coat of da Sinful Colors GITD, then da wraps. So far so good...until I added a coat of Seche Vite! I had a few lil wrinkles around da edges of da wraps, but no big deal. My beloved SV caused those lil wrinkles to become worse & gave da whole mani an antiqued crinkle look that wasn't noticeable from a distance but just felt wrong to da touch. Not what I wanted!

At least the GITD under the see thru cats & stars on da wraps worked.
Note to self: next time, no top coat!

I know that's your hand under there Paw & I will chomp it!

Monday Quickie ~ I Spotted a Ginger!

Hello Dahlings!

Holy Freakin' Guacamole! How da heck did I forget to post last Friday? Why didn't anybody say anything? I can only blame my son's memorial coming up this next Saturday & having to get a bazillion things done before then. I want to keep up on my posting this week, but if that doesn't happen, at least y'all know why. Some semblance of sanity should return next week, sometime, I hope, maybe?
Anywho, I do have a fun lil Monday mani for y'all.

Da line up: LynB Designs Am I Ginger? from her Dr. Who line & yes, that is a bottle of OPI Black Spotted! Thanks to Dionne from Glittery Fingers & Sparkling Toes I found out that peeps in da US can get hold of this most lusted after lemming on Amazon for about $15 & that includes shipping. I can wait until you get back from ordering yours...

Got that taken care of? Good! This is da yummy Am I Ginger?
It was a bit thick (nothing a lil thinner won't fix),
but it was easily opaque in 2 coats
& full of linear holographic pumpkin goodness.

Once Am I Ginger? dried I added a very thin coat of Black Spotted. By thin I mean I wiped most of da polish off da brush then lightly whisked it across da nail. Then I sat back & watched da magic happen! A coat of Seche Vite finished it off. One of da many cool things about this polish, besides the way it looks & fast dry time, is that if you get too much in one spot, you can go back & pull some of it off with da brush while its still wet without ruining da effect. You can't really do that with crackle polish! I didn't notice that my nails looked a lot like da pic on da lil tag until I was taking pics of it.
I must have done it right!

It was bound to happen...Cirrus figured out where his Grand Paw keeps da elixir of life hidden. Yes, he's jumped into da fridge & does this every time Mr. Inky has da door open for more than a few seconds. We've never had a cat climb into da fridge before.
Da Dishwasher...yes. Da fridge is a new thrill in pet parenthood.

Weird Wednesdays ~ Glow In The Dark polish comparison!

Hello Dahlings!

Today's fun is a comparison of 4 white glow in the dark polishes that are currently available in stores in the US. Realistically, a peep really only needs one of these polishes...but I rarely deal with reality (if I can help it) & tend to have a potato chip mentality when it comes to my polish hording collecting. My obsession is your access to polish related info for free! Here we go...

Da line up: Peripera 802 (white crème), Rubie's GITD (from the Spirit Halloween store in a set with GITD lipstick), Blackheart Beauty Major Ranger, China Glaze Ghoulish Glow & Sinful Colors GITD plus the black end of this Shany Nail Art Pen (from a set of 24 colors I got thru Amazon)

2 Coats of 802. Your standard white crème. A lil streaky on da 1st coat but da 2nd smoothed it all out. Since 'white' gitd polishes tend to be more of an off white/yellow & rather sheer, since they're intended as a topper, undies are a must if you don't want VNL!

 2 coat of each gitd polish: p & t got Rubie's, r ~ Black Heart Beauty, m ~ China Glaze
& I ~ Sinful Colors. All of them looked white unless da light hit them from just da right angle, then da Sinful Colors looked a wee bit yellowish, but not hideous. After adding da nail art, I finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

GITD polishes are a pita to get good pics of! Mr Inky tried 5 times before his tolerance wore out & this was da best of da lot. All of da polishes glowed,
but da comparison winner is...

Sinful Colors Glow In The Dark!
At only $2 it's a great value.
I had so much fun with this mani that I wore it for 4 days!

Just a note ~ my bottle of China Glaze Ghoulish Glow is from last year's release
& tends to separate in the bottle over time. I don't know if this year's formula has fixed this, but I thought you should know.

Monday Quickie ~ Hello Kitty Halloween Nails!

Hello Dahlings!

Sometime in da past year or so, I bought a 10 pack of Hello Kitty nail art stickers thru' Amazon. Included in this asst. were some Halloween images & I thought it was high time I used some of them. So I did...

I applied 2 coats of L.A. Girls Brilliant Blue scatter holo cuz it looks like a starry night sky then I added Halloween Hello Kitty stickers & finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

With this being such a short post, here's some Ciri spam & eggs:

What'cha got there, Paw? Smells good...can I have some?

Um...I can't reach it if you do that!

You gonna make me climb all da way out there?

In da end, Paw (aka Mr Inky) lost & Cirrus got some eggs.
Somebody at my house is whipped but good & it ain't me!

First Friday Frankens

Hello Dahlings!

Just cuz I'm doing all Halloween manis this month
doesn't mean I forgot about First Friday Frankens!

Da line up: Green As Grass, Chunky Pumpkin & Born Pretty Store asst French Tip Guides

This is 2 coats of Green As Grass & I could have gotten away with just one coat of this uber pigmented done-did-it-myself polish. It started out a cheap, rather dull, neon green. I added blue & green craft pigments until I liked da color.

I used 2 ft guides on each finger to mask off areas where I dabbed on Chunky Pumpkin. I had to add a 2nd layer on some nails & as da polish slowly dried, it formed a plasticy top layer & stuck to da tip guides. Blerg. So I had to go back in & carefully touch it up after removing da guides. I sat there for nigh on an hour waiting for CP to dry enuf for a coat of Seche Vite.

See da lil gold hex 'seeds' peeking out of da pumpkin guts?
Chunky Pumpkin started out as a Kleancolor Gold Caviar mini that I poured into a 1/2 bottle of clear polish (not top coat) then I added lots of pumpkin orange glitter. In spite of it's slo-o-ow drying time & having to shake da beejeebers out of it, I like it.

Ciri really really likes milk!

Weird Wednesdays ~ Halloween Washi Tape!

Hello Dahlings!

I've decided to show only Halloween manis this month...kinda DUH! choice. LOL
Today I'll be showing you another crafting item that can be used on your nails:
Washi Tape. Here's what Wikipedia says:

Washi (和紙?) is a style of paper that was first made in Japan. Washi is commonly made using fibers from the bark of the gampi tree, the mitsumata shrub (Edgeworthia chrysantha), or the paper mulberry, but also can be made using bamboo, hemp, rice, and wheat. Washi comes from wa meaning Japanese and shi meaning paper, and the term is used to describe paper made by hand in the traditional manner.[1]

Washi Tape is printed washi like paper with a light adhesive on the back that allows one to reposition it to get good placement, but becomes permanent eventually. Stampin' Up! is currently carrying Washi Tape & I wanted to see if I could use it for nail art.

This is what's left of one of da rolls of tape I have, after I used it for a stamp camp card, & an SU 1/2" Circle punch  I started by placing 2 pieces of SU Witches' Brew Washi Tape on a strip of mailing label backing paper.

I cut the tape into lil strips so da pattern was centered & narrow enuf to fit on my nails. Then I stuck da skull ends into da circle punch thru da back, so I rounded that ends of the strips. Sticker & mailing label backing paper are great for stabilizing self-adhesive paper & tape while punching edges, corners & shapes.

 I made lil tombstones!

I applied 2 coats of Wet N' Wild Metallica to my nails, let it dry, then applied da tape. Da tape is thin enuf that I could easily wrap it around da tips where needed. I finished with a coat of Seche Vite.
Note to self: make sure all da corners are firmly down before adding tc
or they will stay sticking up & annoy me.

Removal was easy. I soaked my nails in my acetone jar until da tc & design came off. (maybe a minute, tops) I used da flat end of a cuticle stick to lift one end of da leftover adhesive layer, then pulled it off with tweezers. Easy squeezy!

Here is some Cirrus spam:

 Ste-e-e-retch!

 Bored, bored, bored.

What?
