Swishie Nails CASE!

Hello Dahlings!

When my Dahling Polish Daughter, Swishie from Swishie Nails, posted this mani on Halloween...well I squee'd really loud & knew I had to CASE it!
(Copy And Share Everything)
I ended up not copying it exactly, but the concept & colors are all my DPD's idea.
You can see her creation HERE!

Da line up: China Glaze Stone Cold & Republic Nail gitd
(no name or # polish from TJ Maxx)
plus a small detail brush & medium larger dotter

 2 coats of Stone Cold.
I wish China Glaze would do more matte finish polishes like this!
Stone Cold is self leveling & while it goes on a bit streaky, it dries nice & smooth
(except where I have a patch on my ring finger lol
ain't nothing gonna hide that speed bump!)

 Swishie's Halloween kitties are sweet,
mine are more...demonic mischievous putty tats.
I used da brush to paint da cat heads & then used da dotter to make dots where I wanted da eyes to be, then back to da brush to add pointy slants to da eyes. Da paw prints were done using both ends of da dotter.

 Under black light...

...and in da sink!
This isn't a strong a gitd effect cuz I applied da gitd polish over a dark polish,
but it still amused me on my way to bed.

Ciri has his demonic mischievous moments too...

 I've got you now, Paw!

 I ain't letting go!

Nom nom nom nom...
It's not da biting, but rather da chewing that hurts! LOL
Mr Inky discovered that pulling his sleeve (or a sock as in this pic) down over his hand works rather well for protecting his hand & giving Ciri something to sink his teeth & claws into that doesn't involve My Inky's losing blood.
(da man's hands were looking like he'd taken up blackberry bush wrestling
& da bush was winning consistently LOL)

I Love Nail Polish ~ My Little Glacier

Hello Dahlings!

Today I have another uber yummy polish from I Love Nail Polish to show you! This indie brand is growing fast due to it's smooth crèmes, droolicious glitters, stunning holos & perfection in a bottle multi chromes. On to da polish!

Da line up: I Love Nail Polish My Little Glacier, Stripe Rite silver
& Sally Hansen Digital

 2 coats of icy perfection!
Chrome polishes have the annoying tendency to streak like a drunken frat boy.
(loudly with lil to no provocation LOL)
ILNP Ultra Chromes apply like my beloved SH Chromes...
if you go slow, you won't get some many streaks.

 Look at those colors!
They like to play hide & seek, but they do come out.

The shift in My Little Glacier is more subtle than Birefringence or Cygnus Loop, but that's what makes it so special. Look at the difference between my pinky & index fingers to see what I mean. Why wear a plain silver polish, especially for a fancy dress up occasion, when you could be sporting this beauty?

I added my fav double line funky French tip using Digital & the silver with the bottle brushes. A word on nail art bottle brushes: I don't like that Stripe Rite doesn't name their colors, but I do like da skinny bottle brushes they have. Most other brands of nail art polish have such clunky, often wonky, brushes that I tend to use my Essence skinny striper instead. I actually use the bottle brushes of this brand.

I Love Nail Polish Ultra Chromes do cost more than my self-imposed $10 per bottle limit, but they are SO worth it!!! They recently did a pre-order sale for their new additions to both da holographic & their Ultra Chrome line & this included the original 4 Ultra Chromes as linear holos!!! I ordered a polish Ho-ing 10 (out of 16) of da new nail candy plus a bonus LE for ordering more than 3 bottles. (not like that was hard or anything LOL)
When I go Ho-ing I do it well! LOL

Here's what Ciri has to say about it...

 Bored, bored, bored!

What? Grand Meow gots new nail candies from ILNP coming!
I wonder if she'll let me bat da sparkly bottles around?
Maybe if I do it when she's not in da room?

Weird Wednesdays ~ GITD Polish Comparison!

Hello Dahlings!

I admit it. I really get a kick out of wearing glow-in-da-dark nail polish! When it's bed time, I set da house alarm, turn out da lights, head up stairs wiggling my glowing fingers in da dark. LOL I have quite a few gitd polishes from several brands & some are better than others. So today, I'll show you swatches of my gitd stash & tell you which one's I think are worth buying, which aren't & why.
Be warned! This post is pic heavy & a diet wasn't doable.

This page has my BK (Born Pretty Store),
Blue Cross Pumpkin (in many drug stores in October)
& Claire's GITD polishes.

The same swatches under black light...

...and in full dark. The BK polishes are pretty lame
& Claire's purple gitd is a dud.

Page 2 has Hello Kitty (Born Pretty Store),
Nabi (Amazon) & Republic Nail (TJ Maxx)

 Under black light...

...in full dark. Again da BPS gitd polishes aren't really doing much,
da Nabi's are pretty good & da RN's aren't too shabby.

These are those milky white, semi sheer toppers that most brands offer for their gitd polish. Black Heart Beauty Major Ranger (Hot Topic), China Glaze Ghoulish Glow (Sally's Beauty Supply), Rubie's GITD (Spirit Halloween Store), Sinful Colors GITD & Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers Go With The Glow (in many drug & Halloween stores in October).

 Under black light...

...and in da dark. The Sinful Colors performed the best for me this year, Rubie's came in 2nd, China Glaze, BHB & WW brought up da rear with only so-so performance. Has anybody else had issues with their China Glaze Ghoulish Glow separating? I got my bottle last year & every time I look at it, it has split itself into a thick bottom layer with tinted fluid above. Shaking it blends it back together, but China Glaze polishes usually behave better than this!

Color gitds:
Blue Cross Pumpkin does well across da board & the darker colors don't need undies.
BK pretty much sucks.
Claire's is hit & miss, but considering it's price ($7) it should perform better.
HK sucks too.
Nabi did fairly well, tho' they can be hit or miss for individual colors.
They are very sheer & need white undies. (I tried them over colors,
but they didn't glow very well.)

These are intended for toppers:
Black Heart Beauty's best feature is da skull bottle.
China Glaze works ok, but can separate in da bottle
Rubie's works well for a cheap polish.
Sinful Colors made an awesome gitd this year!
(I should have grabbed 2 when I had da chance!)

Most of these work ok, except for the BK & HK lines from Born Pretty Store.
While I've had good success with the other polishes I've bought from them, I can't recommend either of these gitd polish lines.

Top picks:
Blue Cross Pumpkins for colors & Sinful Colors for a use-over-any-color top coat.
(you can still find pumpkin polishes online at eBay & Amazon)

This is the black light I use for testing & photographing gitd polishes. I got the light in a local Spirit Halloween store, but you can still get one for yourself here. Da lamp is a spring clamp with a socket. Nothing fancy & available in home improvement, hardware & some home décor stores for pretty cheap. (under $10).

Here's your reward for scrolling thru all this:

I'se sleepin here on my favs napping spot...my Grand Paw!

First Friday Frankens ~ Sweet Thistle with Racing Stripes!

Hello Dahlings!

Today is da 1st Friday of da new month & y'all know that that means...right?
A new franken polish show & tell! (Woohoo & da crowd goes wild!!! LOL)
This is one of my earliest attempts at mixing a polish from near scratch
rather than mixing existing polishes to make a new color or finish.
So here we go!

Da line up: Sweet Thistle Bar franken, Sinful Colors Lazy Girl nail art
& Stripe Rite silver nail art

2 coats of STB. This dahling started out as the last of the top coat that matched my fav base coat. After 20 years it had picked up a pink tint & was too low to easily use for a top coat, plus it was not a fast dry tc.
So I decided to putz with it...

I added Sweet Thistle craft grade pigment powder from LuminArte', lavender holographic bar & fine purple glitters from da craft store. I really need to get me some suspension fluid cuz having to shake da beejeebers out of my frankens is a pita.

I then used da nail art polishes to add racing stripes!
Followed by a coat of Seche Vite.
It's still rather textured, but doable.

Lookee at da cute Hello Kitty Halloween candy tin Mr Inky brought me from Archie McPhee's ! He found himself in Wallingford by mistake during lunch on Friday & knew he better not come home empty handed. He also bought me one of their grab bags full of all kinds of wacky toys, including a St. Anne statue. She's da patron saint of lost stuff...anybody know where my coffee is?

Now for your Ciri spam:

 What? I'se sleepin.

Why did you turn on da flash & wake me up?

Never mind. Zzzzzzz...

Thanks for stopping by!
