Time for an Anti-VD mani!

Hello Dahlings!

Yes, you read da title correctly.

Last week, my beloved Dude, Fingers Polish Mania,
challenged da Fingers Freakin Holo Freaks
to post a Valentine's Day, anti VD or
in honor of Friday da 13th, a horror mani.

I went with a anti VD/horror type dealio...

 Have you ever wanted to stick pins into a voodoo doll of an ex?
If so, then This is da mani for you!

 Da line up ~ TDWP Fine Wine, Color Club Beyond & Harp On It
plus Bunny Nails plate HD-A, (da broken hearts & da words 'love sucks')
Bundle Monster plates BM-323 & BM-413
(323 for da barbed wire & 413 for da voodoo doll head)
and not shown, but certainly important is my

 2 buttery smooth coats of Fine Wine
Do Tami's pretties ever perform less than perfectly?
I think not!

Her store will be reopening soon to da
where you can get all da up to da minute info
as well as have shopping privileges.

>^. .^<

Love was certainly in da air at my mom's house last Turkey weekend!

 Why is Missy not paying attention to me?

 Meowy, quit distractin' her from me!

 How can I get her to look at me?

I'll just have to lie here all cute like until she looks up.

Thanks for stopping by!

CNT 52 week PN'M ~ Hearts & Purple!

Hello Dahlings!

I'm not a hearts & roses kind of gal
plus the whole commercialism of Valentine's Day
leaves me underwhelmed with enthusiasm.
I'm not anti-romance or anything.
After almost 25 years of marriage to Mr Inky
I certainly enjoy a lil romance.
It's just the whole
'If you love them, buy them expensive stuff!'
advertising that turns me off.

That said,
when a challenge calls for a theme or colors
that I don't personally get thrilled over,
I do it anyway cuz I agreed to participate.

This week da Tarts are doing hearts &/or purple polish.
I'm not so keen on hearts, but purple is a fav color!
So I did this...

 If you look really, really close you might see da hearts I stamped.
Maybe. I'm fine with this & I'll show you why in a mo'.

 I started with 2 smooth coats of Bear Pawlish Holo Back Girl
Very purple & yummy rainbows!

 I then used plates BM-411 & BM-620 from Bundle Monster
& the most excellent Creative Shop Stamper
This link takes you to Beautometry to order yours
as da FB group I ordered mine thru
no long does group orders to get this must have stamper.

 This is why I used da Republic Nail polish shown in da 1st pic!
I love my rainbows, but they aren't much fun when da lights go out.

>^. .^<

Is dat a cat treat?
I may have to eats it to finds out!

Thanks for stopping by

The Nail Polish Blogger Connection Link Up!

Hello Dahlings!

I have a lil something different for you today!
A few weeks ago, me & Michelle Lacquer Or Leave Her!
were chatting about promoting each others blogs
when I had a light bulb go off & suggested a Share Da Love thingy for
The Nail Polish Blogger Connection FB group we're both in.
I wanted to call it Pimp Your Polish Pals
She bounced da idea off da other admin & da group, so here we are!
Michelle suggested we use da questions for da group's Featured Blogger
or whatever format worked for us sharing a bit about ourselves.
So read on if you want da dirt on me!
I may have used a lot of words in this post,
so maybe take a potty break before you start?

What is the focus of your blog?

I’m all about da nail art! That said, I do show a base color swatch in almost all of my posts plus I swatch a couple of indie brands, do occasional polish comparisons, show my hair when I dye it w/nails to match & show ways to use crafting supplies for nail art.

~~~
What made you start blogging?
I thought I might have something a lil different to offer da nail art world since I have decades of experience in rubber stamping & other crafting skills plus a quirky view on things.
~~~

What keeps you blogging?

Peeps seem to like my creative adventures & my cats.

~~~
What other blogs were/are inspirational to you?
Michelle Belle (Mimi Manicures) did a shout out
& kick started my blogging.
I had to post something for peeps to see!
After that I kept at it until I got it mostly right.
Since then my polish pals continue to encourage & enable me.
Da biggest culprits are:
Debbie Crumpet
Michelle Lacquer Or Leave Her!
Amanda Pretty Girl Science
XOXO, Jen
Katy Kacki Paints
and last on this list, but far from least:
My Dahling Polish Daughter Sarah of She Sells Seashells fame!
~~~

What advice would you give to someone just starting a nail blog?

Do your blog in da way that makes YOU happy, not so much what you see others doing or what you think peeps want to see. If it feels like a chore cuz you’re not making yourself happy, you won’t want to keep doing it. Oh yeah...turn off da word verification thingy on your blog. Peeps are less likely to comment if you have it on. Set your comments to only post after you moderate them. This way you can weed out spam & decide if anonymous peeps get posted.

~~~
What is your polish Holy Grail?
I want a neon purple linear holographic polish!
(think Sinful Colors Dream On neon purple with RAINBOWS)
I did find a nph from Glitzkrieg War Paint last year, but alas, da formula was horribly goopy & she has since closed shop. So I’m still searching & frankening in the hopes of having an eureka moment.
~~~

If you were stuck on a deserted island, what one item would you take with you?

Realistically?
I would want a big assed survival knife with all da whips & jingles...
...if I couldn't have a boat to get off da island.

~~~
What else would you like to share about your blog?
I blog about my nails as a way to share my creative expression. It isn’t about my copying others, it’s about my encouraging each of you to let the best YOU show from da inside out.
~~~

Da list also suggested we share a link or 2 to posts that we're especially proud of,
so I picked this one & redid the mani from it for today's post.

Kitchen Sink Saturdays #1

I picked this post to share cuz it highlights 3 milestones in my early polish adventures.

1) For da 1st time ever,
I had grown my nails out to 1" from cuticles to tips!

2) Da purple polish I used was made by me
& is still one of da best frankens I've ever made!

3) I broke out of da 'every nail must match da others'
rut I had been in for 30 years!

Here are da nails!

 I used straight vinyl nail art stencils from
She Sells Seashells to do da pinky & ring fingers.
I should have used them for da index nail lines too, but I went old school
& used my Essence skinny striper. My largest dotter made da big dots.

Da line up ~ my very own Snap Dragon Sparkle franken,
Big T Ranch Black Cat , my largest dotter, skinny striper,
generic chevron French tip sticker forms & da strait vinyl stencils
from She Sells Seashells.

 2 yummy blue violet, camera freaking coats of Snap Dragon Sparkle.
Yeah, it stained my skin, but I don't care cuz I made it myself.

And yeah, it does this when da lights go out cuz...duh!
GITD is most excellent kewl fun on your nails!

>^. .^<
For those of you new to my Inky lil world, meet mah furbabies!

 Cirrus aka Ciri aka His Royal Tiny-ness of Cute-I-tude
He's barely 7 lbs, but he's da alpha cat around here.

She bigger than Ciri at 12 lbs, but she's dainty next to her bro, Ziggy.

 Ziggy aka Ziggy Bear aka Bath Machine.
Ziggy is my monster boy at 15lb of love.
His fav activity is giving da other 3 cats tongue baths.
That lil bit of white on below his lip? That's a very long tooth.
Ziggy may be part saber tooth tiger!

Luna loves to snuggle, eat & get her daily bath from her son, Ziggy.

KPT ~ Live The Night

Hello Dahlings!

I...um...had too much fun ordering new-to-me brands of polish in January.
So I'm on a no buy-ish for now.
Yeah, cuz we all know I so much will power I have when it comes to polish.

Maybe I'll get caught up on entering my new polishes
into my excel spread sheet, or wearing all my untrieds
(Laughing My Big Butt Off at that!)
or um yeah...who am I trying to kid?

Let's move on to da mani before y'all wet your knickers laughing at me...

 My stamping placement still needs work,
but over all not a bad mani.
I used Konad Princess Hot Pink?, Shany plate SH-24
& my most excellent Creative Shop Stamper.
I added lil gems from a HK kids nail art set
& finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

 This is 3 coats of Polished by KPT Live The Night
It was a bit patchy on da 1st coat.
I added da 2nd coat & could still see the patches thru da polish,
so a 3rd coat was a must.
The formula was pretty good other than da patchiness.
LTN is a gray to black thermal with micro glitter & a scattered holo effect
that was hard to capture in pics, but fun IRL.

 This pic caught some of da sparklies.

>^. .^<

 Aw! Ciri wanted to snuggle with me.

 What?

 You warm & I is cold.

Yeah...
methinks he just liked those fuzzy warm jammie pants
I was wearing at the time.

Thanks for stopping by!

CNT 52 Week PN'M ~ Flowers & Pale Blue

Hello Dahlings!

This week the Tarts are doing floral & pale blue manis!

I did this...

 Um...yeah.
Let me 'splain!

 I started with 2 coats of my franken base
then added one coat of Big T Ranch Little Dipper
on my pinky, middle & index fingers.
I did one coat of Big T Ranch Milky Way on my ring finger.
& thumb not shown
Both are milky clear base gitd toppers!
With my old fav gitd topper indie being unavailable,
I went hunting & found Big T Ranch Soaps & Candles
& Robyn also makes & sells all types of polish
...including gitd & thermal!
We all know how my inky lil heart goes pitty pat for gitds & thermals!

 This is da same one coat of Milky Way & Little Dipper
after being charged under UV light.
WOWZERS!!!
All I did was crop this pic...no editing here!

 I then added 2 coats of Sally Hansen Tulle Kit
I looks like a very pale blue in the bottle, right?
Well it's so pale it's a topper. Blerg.
It does have a nice blue & purple micro glitter shimmer
that would look nice over a base color.

 It didn't mess with da gitd goodness either!

 I then stamped my flowers using Color Club Eternal Beauty
(from Enospring) & Shany plate SH24 that I got on Amazon.
I'm really liking this new to me brand of polish!

I've been using a black light bulb to charge my gitds
for pics for almost 2 years now.
Of late it's not been doing a very good job & taking too long.
So I got out my UV gel mani light that I had stopped using
cuz it took too long & made my hands go numb.
Notice a theme here? Yes, I have a wait problem!
It charged up these polishes up for pics in no time
& the polish held its glow very nicely.

Now go show Robyn over at Big T Ranch some love!

>^. .^<

You gots more claw pretties
& won't lets me play wif da bottles?
I gives you da evil eyes until you gives me cat treats!

Thanks for stopping by
& please go visit da other Tarts!

TDWP Good Tidings!

Hello Dahlings!

In December, my polish boss Tami,
sent me 2 of her new Ultra Chameleon Chrome Flakie Holos
(Shattered Rainbows & Essence) for swatching & review purposes
& I fell head over heels in polish lust with them!

When she opened da pre-order on Jan 2nd,
I bought full sizes of both along with the 3rd UCC Flakie Holo
& all of da FB group only LE mylar flakies.

Today I have da 3rd Ultra Chameleon Chrome Flakie Holo for you!

 HOLY FREAKIN GUACOMOLE PEOPLE!!!
Good Tidings is a silver chrome holo
with uber bits of color shifting metallic flakies
that freaked my camera out & has kept me mesmerized all week!

 Da line up ~ The Devil Wears Polish Good Tidings,
Republic Nail purple & silver gitds I got at Ross.

 This is 2 eye bedazzling coats of Good Tidings!
The formula is Tami's usual perfection
& as of today, (5 days on) I have NO tip wear.

 I used da 2 RN gitds with Bunny Nails Holiday Plate HD - B
& my uber wonderful Creative Shop Stamper.

 Da silver doesn't show well against da silver of Good Tiding,
but da purple does okay.
It doesn't matter cuz I used them to do this...

 They glow much better IRL, but you get the idea.

I didn't link TDWP web store in this post cuz Tami is currently revamping
her shop & there isn't a link to send you to right now.
If you'd like to stay up to date on da shop opening info,
up coming polish releases & teaser pics, as well as be able to order
her polishes when da shop reopens, you have to join
I know this seems like a hassle, but every time da store is open
to da general public Tami's has to deal with ass holes.
Selling thru da group seems to filter these peeps out
which is a good thing cuz Tami works too damn hard
creating these beautiful polishes to be dis'd by idiots
looking to fuss over toopid shit or rip her off.
I swatch for TDWP & promote Tami's polish
cuz I love both da product & da maker!

I will let you know when the shop reopens.

>^. .^<

 Meowmy? Paw won't share whatever dat is in his paw.

 I for realz thinks I'd like a taste.

Why you no shares wif me?

Thanks for stopping by!

Can you add gitd to your regular manis?

Hello Dahlings!

Today I have a comp post that was sort of requested by Jen's Nail Files.
Jen regularly asks peeps to show her what's on their nails
& I often have gitd polish on in some form.
She has expressed several times
that she'd like to wear more gitd polish,
but isn't into glitter all that much.
She has a point, many gitd indie polishes have glitter in them.
Many are jellies too & can need white undies to get max glow factor.

What about using gitd as undies or a topper instead?
Hmmm...things to ponder & ponder I did
before sending my polish where my pondering lead me...

(this post is like uber long, so go potty
& grab a beverage before you start, k?)

 This is the end result of my putzing.
Sinful Color gitd is the best of the bunch,
but let me 'splain how I figured this out.

 Da gitd line up ~ Sally Girl U Glow Girl,
Fright Night Claw Polish I'm Here For The Boos!,
Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers Go With The Glow,
pumpkin bottle Glow Nail Color
& Sinful Colors Glow In The Dark

These polishes are your basic milky pale yellowish white gitds
available during October in stores everywhere in da US.

 I started with one coat of my franken base,
to divide my nails in half length wise.
I painted one coat of each polish
on da left side of each nail as follows:

pinky ~ Sally Girl
ring ~ FN Claw Polish
middle ~ WnW Fantasy Makers
index ~ pumpkin
thumb ~ Sinful Colors

These polishes are your basic milky pale yellowish white gitds
available during October in stores everywhere in da US.

 Ok, so the Sally Girl & pumpkin need a 2nd coat,
but the others are glowing well without white unders,
especially da Sinful Colors.

 I then added 2 coats of Crazy Sister Design Why So Glum thermal polish
so I could show you how well the gitds showed under & over
both light & dark polishes without having to do multiple manis.
Da pic above is WSG when cold...

 ...and when warm.
It also has a light holo rainbow
that doesn't show in my powder room lighting.

 The gitds show thru, especially the Sinful Colors!
I think using a gitd for undies will work best
under medium to light colored jelly base polishes
like holos & low density glitters.
It may work under darker jellies,
but the glow may not be as bright as you might prefer.

Onto part 2 of this lil experiment...

See the odd lighter lines on my pinky, ring & middle nails
just below the demarcation line on each nail?
I remasked using the stencils without adding fdtc.
BIG MISTAKE!
So unless you're willing to wait hours (like overnight)
for your base color to totally cure
& be able to handle stencils without lifting the polish
USE FAST DRY TOP COAT
BEFORE DOING NAIL ART!!!
If I can't be a good example, I'll settle for being a horrible warning.

I dabbed a bit of WSG into the grooves & applied Orly's fdtc.
I then remasked my nails again & added one coat of each gitd
on the other side of the same nails as before.
The gitds definitely silvered the base color!

 The effect with the layered thermal & gitds
did have a color blocked look that was rather nifty.

 I heated my hand up with hot water & this was the result.
The top layer gitd showed better than the undies (duh!)
but most of the undies were still showing their glow.
GITD polish can lose its glow over time
& I think this may have happened to da Sally Girl mini
& da Fantasy Makers cuz they used to glow much better than this.
Sadness. Maybe I can franken them into something useful?

 Da non-gitd line up ~ CSD Why So Glum,

 I used CICI & SISI plate 19 & my Creative Stamper.

 I wanted a bit more rainbow than WSG offered,
so I added a coat of My Private Rainbow.
I then stamped over it all.
Above is da cold version...

 ...and this is da warm.
Notice how da stamped design goes in different directions?
I could say I did this as an artistic statement
or maybe I just wasn't paying attention when I stamped,
but really, it's what I have to do
to make most full nail stamping designs fit my long nails.
I know there are plates with larger full nail images
as well as collage style images & I have quite a few.
I also have quite a few plates with 'normal' size FN images
that don't quite fit my nails,
so I decided to find alternative ways to use them.
Stamping them on the diagonal
is one way to fit too short designs on longer nails.

 Hey!
Black light really shows where I missed in my clean up, don't it?

 Okay, so adding a holo topper & stamping blocked
some of the light from getting to da gitds.
They still glowed pretty well IRL.

Final decree?
Yes, you can wear gitds under regular jelly based polishes
with out messing up the color or finish of those polishes.
SO GO GET YOUR GLOW ON!

Did this answer your question, Jen?
I have a color glow clear topper post planed for the near future!

>^. .^<

Meowmy loves my gitd peepers best!
