Monday Quickie ~ Neon Funky Frenchies!

Hello Dahlings!

 

Eeek! 2 days from now I'll be on a plane headed for SLC. I still have lots to do & hope sleep is in there somewhere. LOL

 

I recently went on a polish spree with orders to Amazon, Llarowe, Born Pretty Store & Cassie Cosmetics, on top of some local buys (I'm hoping my BPS holos arrive up before I leave!) & I scored some yummy new neons! I couldn't decide what I wanted to wear 1st, so I decided to start with 4 of them...

 

 Da line up: Color Club Harp On It, Shany 10, Finger Paints Pop Art Purple, Nina Ultra Pro Violet It Ride, Color Club All That Razz & Finger Paints Warhol Wannabe. (Can you tell I went to  Sally's Beauty Supply? LOL All That Razz is from Llarowe & da black is part of a set of 24 polishes made by Shany that I got from Amazon.)

 

I started with 2 coats of Harp On It. All of da Halo Hues are totally worth da money! All 12 are strong linear holos that go on fairly smooth & look fantabulous! I did funky French tips using da neons: pinky & thumb ~ Warhol Wannabe, ring ~ All That Razz, middle ~ Violet It Ride, index ~ Pop Art Purple. I added a skinny stipe of Shany 10 using my Essence skinny striper & sealed it all with a coat of Seche Vite.

 

I wore this for 4 days & couldn't stop staring at my nails or decide which neon I liked best! LOL Mr Inky & I went for sushi & 1 of da gals working there dove for my hand to see my mani. We chatted about nails for a few mo's while Mr Inky rolled his eyes & pulled plates off da belt. He got a really good laugh when da gal sitting around da corner from us told me she liked my hair. Good thing he's amused by peeps reaction to my nails & hair! LOL

 

I'm hoping to write up 2-3 posts & schedule them for while I'm gone, but between what I have to do for my trip & my totally techtardness, this may or may not work. If it doesn't, I'll be back Sunday & will post if I have da energy or Monday after I've gotten some rest.

Does It Stamp? ~ L.A. Colors!

Time is flying fast as I get ready for my trip! My hair is done. Tonight I'll do my uv mani & tomorrow I'll get my face & feet done at Posh Nail Spa, so I can do my pedi tomorrow night. Even with all this to do, I didn't forget about my blog, not completely, tho' I did space last Monday's post & nobody noticed! Teach me to think my blog means anything.  Life has a way of keeping me humble. *laughing uproariously*

 

So you may have noticed that other than Electrified & Live (both have a metallic foil finish that tends to work well for stamping), I haven't really included L.A. Colors polishes in this series. Mostly due to then seeming rather sheer & needing 2-3 coats for opacity, thus not likely to work well. As I got to the bottom of da pile of polishes I thought might work I decided to test this line even tho' I didn't have high hopes for them. Boy was I wrong! While some didn't work, many did & here's the 1st post showing which one's I have that did past my stamp over black test:

 

 Animated 540, Magnetic Force 562 & Dessert Dune 463

 

Golden Treasure 454 & Force 410

 

Wave Length 570 & Shock 567

 

Current 657, Sea Siren 580 & Static Electricity 569

 

Radiation 572 & Wired 566

 

The colors show up better in person & would look even better with top coat. Are they da best polishes to stamp with? Not so much, but they do show up over black & that's my bottom line when testing a polish for stamping. These are mostly crèmes & a few almost metallic looking shimmers. Crèmes that stamp are hard to find, so I'm all yippy skippy that these worked as well as they did for $1-$2 polishes. Most of my L.A. Colors I picked up at Dollar Tree, the rest at Fred Meyer for $2, tho I did find a 6 pack at Ross for $7 once.

 

If your budget is tight, these are worth a try!

Del Sol Foxy Fun!

Our North Wet summer has been warmer than usual a few times so far, but today isn't one of them & da sun is playing peek-a-boo. As I type this it's comfy 60 degrees & overcast. However, we have had some sun & 2 weeks ago it was hitting 80+. My BFF's & I were going to get together & I wanted something fun on my nails...

 

 Da line up: Del Sol Foxy, Zoya Raven & Chloe, Orly Glitz

 

I knew this polish would be a bit on da sheer side from when I did a polishsicle for it, so I started with 2 coats of my base coat & then 3 coats of Foxy. Indoors or in shade, Foxy is a nice medium pink with a pearly shimmer. (My standard base coat is a conglomerate of several base coats & is currently a nearly opaque nude on its own. (If you'd like to know more about my mix-it-myself base coat & cuticle oil or polishsicles, please say something in da comments?)

 After I did da base color, I added a skinny French tip using Raven. Over all that that I did a coat of Chloe, which is a fire flakey in a sheer pink base. Next came a stripe of Glitz made with my trusty Essence skinny striper. I topped it off with one coat of Seche Vite as usual. I may putz with my base coat, but SV is my all time fav top coat

& I rarely use anything else. Even when I apply matte tc, I use SV 1st to cure the polish under the matte tc.

 

Ta Da! Foxy in full sun. It's a lil hard to tell in these pics, but Foxy does turn a nice red violet in full sun & da flakies made for some sparkly fun.

Weird Wednesday ~ 4th of July mani with Shany Nail Art Pens

EEEK! I leave for SUcon in a week & have a bazillion things to do before I go. *gasp*

 

Even with all da chaos, I do have another nail art product test to share with you...

 

 This is the set of 12 duo color (24 colors total) Shany Nail Art Markers I'll be showing you today. I got them on Amazon for about $20 with my Prime account. Da set has crèmes. metallic, pearls & fine glitters that cover da rainbow & then some. A couple look like dups, but they have different finishes which makes them fairly versatile for my nail art adventures.

 

 Da line up: China Glaze Splish Splash, silver holo stars, pearl red & white Shany Nail Art Markers. The markers are held in pairs with a lil plastic ring that both pens screw into. I separated these 2 colors from their pals for this mani. Da stars are from a Bundle Monster set of 48 lil bottles of nail art bling, also from Amazon, for $14 with Prime. Da bottles in this set are almost twice the size of da lil bottles of bling usually sold with glitter & gleequins etc in them & offer a great selection of shapes, styles & colors to play with on your nails.

 

 2 coats of Splish Splash. It's a jelly-ish polish & went on smooth.

 

 TaDa! I used da pen tips on da markers to make wavy lines on my index & thumb. I used a china white pen & Orly Top2Bottom to applied da stars on my other fingers in wavy lines. I sealed it all in with a coat of Seche Vite. Da stars could have used a 2nd coat of SV, but surprisingly, da SV smoothed over da lil ridges of da wavy lines no prob. Da pens weren't too hard to use, I just had to maintain even pressure on da barrel. I actually wore this on both hands July 3rd, 4th & 5th.

 

The brushes on these markers are ok, a lil thicker than I like for nail art, but they'll be fine for most things & da pen tips will work well for dots & coloring in DIY Decals. 2 really nifty things about pens like these is that da metal pen tip can be cleaned by dipping it in acetone for a few seconds if da polish clogs da tip & da barrels can be refilled with regular polish that is close in color & finish to what's in there. Da barrels are made from a soft-ish plastic that may not react well to acetone, so washing them out to put a very different color in them is something I'm not going to try right now.

 

Over all I recommend these pens for nail art, tho' using paint brushes & a dotting tool work just as well. It really depends on your budget & which is more comfy for you to use when painting or drawing on your nails or decals.

(I decanted this nail art polish into an empty ELF bottle & added a smidge of clear polish to thin it so I could use it as a base color & for stamping.)

 

 Sinful Colors Magnetism, Sally Hansen Shoot the Moon & Kleancolor Storm Cloud

(Storm Cloud is another nail art polish I decanted into a regular polish bottle with some clear polish cuz I like da color enuf to want to use if for more than just nail art.)

 

Sally Hansen Diamond LE

First Friday Frankens!

My Dahling Polish Daughter, Swishie (she's having a non-UK Give-a-way right now!), recently lamented that she missed the Friday Frankens series I did last February. So I thought I'd bring it back in a slightly different way: First Friday Frankens! So from now until...whenever...I'll show a mani using one or more frankens I've made on da 1st Friday of da month. 

 

 Da line up: Reflex Violet Bling & Sassy Cotton Candy

 

 I applied 3 coats on each nail for full opacity.

I really have to stop going without undies...too breezy!

 

 Reflex Violet Bling started as L.A. Colors Sassy iridescent glitter in a clear base. I added Reflex Violet craft pigment powder to it. (This is the same powder I used HERE )

 

 Sassy Cotton Candy started as Wet N' Wild Kaleidoscope. I added Gumballs Sassy polish & Kleancolor Silver Star. Alas, da stars decided to stick to da side of da bottle 

& are a royal pita to fish out, but da color & sparklies are fun.

 

TA DA! I applied some Pueen nail art stickers that matched da polish colors

then I added a coat of Seche Vite to finish.

 

A word about these nail art stickers...I needed to use da flat end of a cuticle stick to get them off da backing plastic & slightly tore a couple cuz they really didn't want to be moved plus I highly recommend using a pva glue base coat when using them cuz they don't play well with acetone. They're on a plastic-y material that doesn't dissolve well but isn't impervious to da remover, so I had bits of sticky plastic to remove from my nails that were worse than glitter to deal with. I got them in a set of 10 packages on Amazon & they have a really nice assortment of designs that are different than many I've seen (I am so not into lil girly flowers, ya know?) at a reasonable Add-on price.  But I will have to remember to use da pva bc or I'll be saying bad words every time I have to remove them cuz I like da designs enuf to use them again.
