#TGPNPC ~ Pink

Hello Dahlings!

 

Today's prompt is one of my fav colors ~ PINK!

I think I may have more violet in my stash,

but not by much.

 

So I had this grandiose plan of using

around 30 polishes to do a waterfall mani...

then Debbie Crumpet told us that our technique of the week

in the SIMPLES FB group would be using Saran Wrap.

She even showed us how HERE with a video!

 

My first attempt was not what I'd hoped for,

so I decided to try again using today's mani.

 

 TADA!!! I like this version much better!

 

 Da line up ~ Different Dimension Give Me Love
& Polish Me To Go Ever After

I used bubble wrap (as suggested by Debbie)
held in reverse grip tweezers

and splodged away until I liked what I saw.

This is the kind of technique that takes a lil practice

to get the patterning balanced across all nails.

Da results are random & that can take getting used to as well.

 

 This is 2 coats of Give Me Love.

It was a bit thick & prone to patching

plus it dried to a weird rubbery matte finish.

I forgive it for being persnickety cuz it does this...

 

 Yep! Both of da polish I used for today's mani gitd.

I've been really tired lately & not thinking outside the box well.

This has led to gitd withdrawal for me.

No, not ever mani needs gitd dark

(yes it does!)

but at least I can add some in here & there.

I gotta be ME!

I know I've mentioned that Ciri gets da most pics

cuz he's da King of Cute-i-tude

& da others, while lovable, just aren't that entertaining.

Case in point...

 

 Luna da Hut.

She gained lots of weight while pregnant

& even more after she weaned her kittens.

She's so fat,

she's been known to tip over

going around corners if she's moving too fast.

She's also a total snuggle bug 

that will nuzzle & kiss me while I pet her.

 

As an added treat this week...

 

This is my Queen Elizabeth rose.

They are an old variety that isn't grafted

tho da fragrance has been bred out of most modern varieties.

They are also quite prolific in their blooming with few thorns

& are hardy enuf that they can be used as low hedges.

 

This is my Reign du Violets.

Yes, it's really this bright!

It also has that yummy rose fragrance missing from modern roses.

It's an old fashioned, non-grafted double

& the blooms are maybe 2" across.

This bush is a major pita!

It's very thorny plus prone to leaf mold & aphids,

but da color & scent more than make up for da hassle.

#TGPNPC ~ 2 Cremes

Hello Dahlings!

 

2 crèmes seems a bit anticlimactic

after some of the prompts we've done in this challenge.

That's OK, a mini brain vaca is a good thing!

 

 I went with base color & simple stamping.

Meh.

Da best part of this mani for me

is that da LASplash came in a set

I picked up cheap at Ross

& I had wondered if they would stamp...

this one does.

Da rest are as opaque & on da thick side

so I have hope for them as stamping polishes.

 

Da worst part?

Da CG base color.

Not only did it give me fits,

it got a hair stuck in it

& I couldn't get it off without redoing da nail.

Ain't nobody got time for that!

 

 Da line up ~ China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle,

Bundle Monster plate BM-316 & LASplash Garden Jade.

 

I do have to let y'all know

that da formula on this China Glaze SUCKED!

It went on patchy & streaky

to da point I almost needed 3 coats.

Then, when I took it off,

it stained my acrygel overlay. Blerg.

 

My what?

 

 I've been doing an acrylic powder & nail glue undercoating

on my nails for over a year

& it really helped to eliminate tip & corner breaks.

However, when I do break a nail,

it tends to be at the nail line

when da undercoat is grown out, thin 

 needing to be back filled.

Can I get an OUCH from y'all?

I thought so.

 

Anywho, with both pinkies getting uber nubbinized in a month,

I have da rest chopped back to just past my finger tips

& will keep them there until da pinky nails catch up.

This length is too short for my undercoating,

but I don't want to risk more breaks.

So I'm trying an AcryGel overlay to see if that works

as well if not better than my under coat

without being too much of a hassle.

 

Traditional overlays using acrylic monomer & powder

can help protect your natural nails

until you want to take them off.

They have to be sanded down.

If this doesn't damage your nails,

they sometimes separate from da nail

& this also damages da nail.

(I wont get into da whole bacteria issue.)

 

Gel nails are much easier on da nail,

especially da soak off type.

What I'm doing is pretty easy

if you've done uv/led gel manis at home.

I prep my nails & apply clear gel base coat

After tidying da gel around da edges 

I pour clear acrylic powder over da wet gel 

check again to make sure no gel is on my skin

cure for 1 minute.

 

At this point I can repeat for a 2nd coat

or just add another coat of base to smooth it out.

I didn't add da 2nd coat of base this time.

I'm trying dif things each week

to see what layering combo & brand work best for me.

Not adding the 2nd base coat was an oops.

Da whole thing pretty much came off when I took of this mani.

I'll up date you as I go.

While I'm not a huge fan of brown & yellow polish...

I have to admit to a strange fascination with orange lacquers.

They suffer tremendously from skin clash when I wear them,

but I wear them anyway.

#TGPNPC ~ Fugliest

Hello Dahlings!

You're getting a bit of a 2fer today!

Da Pirates are showing off their ugliest untrieds

& it's da 1st Friday of June

& that means Franken time!

Yeah, I made an uber butt ugly polish.

I started with 2 OPI minis that were 10-15 years old.

They had no names or #'s on them

(as is typical for OPI minis)

I had used them both so there wasn't enuf polish left

for me to do another mani with either one.

So I poured them into an empty bottle

& added some clear polish cuz they were a bit thick.

I then added a shaker bead to mix it all up.

One mini was a lavender with a warm golden shimmer.

Da other was a pink with a coppery gold shimmer.

You'd think these 2 would play well together

being so close in color & from da same company?

 

 Nope!

Both da lavender & pink were lost

& da shaker bead decided to rust

& this caused a reaction with da polish 

that turned da clear base into a body fluid yellow.

 

I couldn't stand it & took it off in less than 24 hours.

(They can't all be winners. LMBBO) 

 

 

Next up ~ 2 Crèmes

 I like dis puter bag.

 

 I really really likes it a lot & I don't know why.

#TGPNPC ~ Prettiest

Hello Dahlings!

Picking polishes for today's prompt was HARD!

How would you go about picking your prettiest untried polish?

Going by what one can see thru da glass works...

until you get it on da nail.

It may or may not look like what you hoped for at that point.

Even if it makes for an uber awesome mani...

can you get good pics of it?

Anywho, I ended up with 2 manis for this prompt

& you can decide which one is prettiest.

 This is da mani I went for as my prettiest untrieds.

 Da line up ~ Smitten Radiant Orchid & Ellagee Chronic Badass

Chronic Badass is part of a collaboration

Ellagee is doing with Digital Nails

to support awareness of Fibromyalgia,

which both ladies have.

 2 coats of Radiant Orchid!

This is the closest I've found so far for my Holo Grail ~

a strong linear holographic neon purple!

It's truly more orchid than neon purple

as it's a wee bit too light in color,

but it's still awesomeness in a bottle!

I did have something odd happen

when I applied my beloved Seche Vite top coat...

 Do you see da difference?

On da right is my index finger with just RA on it.

On da left is my middle finger with a coat of SV.

Da SV lightened da color!

I don't think I've ever seen it do this before?

I've seen it shrink around da edges.

I've seen it flatten holo rainbows,

but change da color?

That's a new one!

Alas, we're still having a bit of June Gloom

so I didn't get any sun pics of this mani.

*le sigh*

 This is my runner up for prettiest untried polish.

2 coats of Ultra Chrome yumminess with a coat of SV.

I Love Nail Polish Peace

 

As I was sitting here,

right before typing up this post,

I was lamenting a lack of pics showing da color shift

when I noticed that my desk lamp

with it's standard incandescent bulb

was actually bringing some shift out!

So this pic was about 5 minutes old when it got posted.

I only got da purple & magenta to show,

but that's a heck of a lot better

than most of my other attempts.

 

See why I couldn't decide?

Could you tell one of your babies

that she's prettier than her sisters,

in front of da other kids?

#TGPNPC ~ What Was I Thinking Buying This?

Hello Dahlings!

 

Today's untrieds aren't a fail or even all that ugly,

they're just meh

& not what I thought they'd be when I bought them.

 

 When I first got really into polish 2 years ago,

I had a lot to learn!

So when I saw these polishes on Amazon,

I thought I was getting linear holos, not scatters.

They're pretty sheer

& would look much better with white undies

or used as toppers or tints.

All nails have 2 coats with base coat & Seche Vite tc.

 

pinky ~ Holo Yellow 137

da most opaque of da 5

 

ring ~ Holo Orange 138

 

middle ~ Holo Pink 134

 

index ~ Holo Blue 135

 

thumb ~ Holo Green 136

da most sheer of da 5

 

 Da line up ~ All 5 are from Kleancolor & came in a set of 6.

Holo Chrome 94 is da 6th polish in da set & I like that one a lot.

 

 

Next up ~ Prettiest

Freakin Weekly Challenge ~ Brown

Hello Dahlings!

 

Today da Freaks are sporting Brown holo polish!

I don't wear own brown clothing or accessories.

(OK I have ONE brown long sleeve t-shirt

hat I wear to work in the garden,

but I don't leave home wearing it.

I got it for $5 at a time when finding long sleeve t's

was proving problematic.)

I do have brown polish & even a few brown holo polishes

cuz I'm a polish ho & must have ALL the colors!

Here's da brown holo I choose for today...

 

 Literary Lacquers Laters, Baby

This is 2 coats of blackened choco jelly yumminess!

Yeah, that's my uber nubbin pinky.

I have NO free edge at all.

*le sigh*

At least it will grow back...eventually.

With this dark brown polish on it,

it looks like a lil choco chip.
