Weird Wednesdays ~ Halloween Washi Tape!

Hello Dahlings!

I've decided to show only Halloween manis this month...kinda DUH! choice. LOL
Today I'll be showing you another crafting item that can be used on your nails:
Washi Tape. Here's what Wikipedia says:

Washi (和紙?) is a style of paper that was first made in Japan. Washi is commonly made using fibers from the bark of the gampi tree, the mitsumata shrub (Edgeworthia chrysantha), or the paper mulberry, but also can be made using bamboo, hemp, rice, and wheat. Washi comes from wa meaning Japanese and shi meaning paper, and the term is used to describe paper made by hand in the traditional manner.[1]

Washi Tape is printed washi like paper with a light adhesive on the back that allows one to reposition it to get good placement, but becomes permanent eventually. Stampin' Up! is currently carrying Washi Tape & I wanted to see if I could use it for nail art.

This is what's left of one of da rolls of tape I have, after I used it for a stamp camp card, & an SU 1/2" Circle punch  I started by placing 2 pieces of SU Witches' Brew Washi Tape on a strip of mailing label backing paper.

I cut the tape into lil strips so da pattern was centered & narrow enuf to fit on my nails. Then I stuck da skull ends into da circle punch thru da back, so I rounded that ends of the strips. Sticker & mailing label backing paper are great for stabilizing self-adhesive paper & tape while punching edges, corners & shapes.

 I made lil tombstones!

I applied 2 coats of Wet N' Wild Metallica to my nails, let it dry, then applied da tape. Da tape is thin enuf that I could easily wrap it around da tips where needed. I finished with a coat of Seche Vite.
Note to self: make sure all da corners are firmly down before adding tc
or they will stay sticking up & annoy me.

Removal was easy. I soaked my nails in my acetone jar until da tc & design came off. (maybe a minute, tops) I used da flat end of a cuticle stick to lift one end of da leftover adhesive layer, then pulled it off with tweezers. Easy squeezy!

    1. It only takes a couple of inches to cover your nails & it's cheaper than nail wraps.
