40 Great Nail Art Ideas ~ Pastels

Hello Dahlings!

Spring is upon us in the northern hemisphere
& to get into the season the Tarts
are doing manis featuring pastels this week.
My pattern/technique for this round is patchwork.

So I did this...

as pastels generally ain't my thang.

The line up ~ Hit the Bottle Snowed In,
Anonymous Lacquer Summer Nights and Neon Lights,

& my new love,

I started with 2 coats of SN&NL over my franken bc.
I then made decals on my Uber Chic Uber Mat
by putting down a coat of Sally Hansen Dries Quick
then stamping over it once it cured.
I let the stamping sit for 15 minutes to cure.
I then filled in the various areas with the Rainbow Brights
colors using the largest brush from the

Um yeah...about these economy priced brushes.
When my set arrived a while back,
they looked like this in the package:

The tubes to protect the bristles
couldn't even protect themselves in shipping.
So I took them out of the wrapper
to make sure the brushes were ok.

Um...no, they weren't ok at all.
I didn't bother contacting Bundle Monster over a set of $1.99 brushes.
I just glued them back together
& made a note to let y'all know to beware.
This is def a case of getting matching value for the price paid.
The brush I used worked fine after I snipped a stray bristle.

I let the filled decals sit for half an hour to cure
as I had applied rather thick coats of polish.
When I went to apply them I had issues
with getting the decals to fold around my points
& ended up with several nails (on both hands)
looking like they had tip wear before I had even finished the mani
as well as several wrinkles that I flattened out, but could still see.
Blerg.

I let my hot mani mess sit for 5-10 minutes
so the polish could cure back up
from the acetone needed to mold the decals to my nails.
By this time I was getting tired & didn't take a pic.
What I did do was patch those bald spots
by wiping most of the polish off the bottle brush
& dabbing just enough polish to fill the voids
without creating a bump.
You can do this with a tiny dotting tool too.
Not every design will allow this kind of touch up,
but I got lucky that my bald spots were one color.
Once those spots cured for about 10 minutes (so they wouldn't smear)
I added a coat of Magik cuz rainbows make everything better!
A coat of Seche Vite & I called it night.

>^. .^<

I'se ascared of dem claws or maybe I'se ascared of Missy.
Either way, I'm gonna sit here, behind dryer for a while, K?

Thanks for stopping by
& please share the luvs
with the other Tarts!

    1. I tend to go with brights (neons), vampy & dark jewel tones when picking colors for a 'me' mani, but when a challenge calls for pastels, I go with pastels. LOL I do love your dark pastel brights with all that shimmer! <3
