Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 28 Art Nouveau

Hello Dahlings!

This is it...da last day of da Nail Art A Go Go Challenge!
I want to thank da brilliant & most beauteous Missy Gnarly Gnails
for not only coming up with da most unique nail art challenge
I've seen in 2 years of  nail art blog hopping,
but also for letting me join her Facebook group,
Polish Passionistas.
I have gotten to know some of da ladies there this month
& made some pretty gosh darn nifty polish pals
as well as had my socks knocked off
by some of da best nail art I've ever seen!
I've been challenged both artistically & logistically this month.
My inky lil brain is spinning with new ideas I want to try.
But before I can go off on new polish adventures,
I must needs to show you my final challenge nails...

This is one of those art movements that I know it when I see it,
but it can be hard to describe
due to da diversity of mediums used to express it.
It's more organic than da rather linear
(or da Prairie School that followed after A&C)
that were going on at the same time,
yet balance & defined form were essential.

I used this Tiffany Lamp as my inspiration for today's prompt:

 Tiffany Stained Glass Nails!
Yep...I stamped them on my nails.

Da line up ~ Finger Paints Paper Mache & Black Expressionism
along with Nabi GitD in M. Green 21, Blue 07 & Pink 03

I used this image from Cheeky's 2012 XL Plate A
& my beloved Vivid XL Squishy Stamper
(I sure hope they stock these again!
Y'all really need to have one to get da best results.)

And cuz I'm me...

 Under black light...

...and in da sink!
I highly recommend this set of gitd polishes from Nabi on Amazon!
It has every color you could need
for year round glow-in-the-dark fun!

All done!

>^. .^<

Maybe some Ciri pics will cheer us all up?

 Oh! Oh! Oh!
Oh yeah, dat's da spot!

Aaaaagh!
What is you doings to my leg?
I is NOT a dog!

Thank you SO much for taking this artistic journey with me
& please don't let da love for my Polish Passionista Pals end here!

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 27 Pointillism

Hello Dahlings!

This challenge just keeps getting more fun!
Today we're showing our takes on Pointillism
Basically, this technique uses the way our eyes perceive color
using colored dots to define shapes, show shading & shifts of colors.
(think of da eye test where you have to tell them
what number you see in a field of colored dots)

I like da work of Seurat, but Paul Signac's use of whimsy speaks to me more.
I used his piece Portrait de Felix Feneon as my inspiration today.

 As with most nail art...
it looks much better at arms length!
Still, I think I captured da essence of what Pointillism portrays.

Da line up ~ Finger Paints Paper Mache &
Bundle Monster nail art pens in black 02, silver 03, pink 06 & blue 11.
I got these pens in 2 sets of 4 @ $11.99 for each set on Prime!
They didn't spit when I used them nor did they crack or smear
when I added a coat of Seche Vite.
Me likey!!!

Tomorrow's Art Nouveau prompt is our last challenge!

>^. .^<

I raise my paws in cuteness!

Thanks for stopping by...
now please go feast your eyes
on what da other ladies have to show you!

Nail Art A Go Go Chllange! ~ Day 26 Graffiti

Hello Dahlings!

We're almost done with this epic adventure of creativity.
*sniff*

Today we're doing Graffiti on our nails
& of course I had to go be all me.
This means research & notes
& hours pondering what I'd like to do
balanced against what I know I can reasonably do.
This is where I ended up...

I combined 2 versions I liked
& even tho my results are less than perfect...
I like it!

Da line up ~ Finger Paints Gorgeous Graffiti & Black Expressionism,
Kleancolor Madly Matte & Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in White

I still need some practice using these pens,
but they are so much easier to use than da kind
that have a lil tube you have to squeeze
just right or get blobs of polish.

Tomorrow ~ Pointillism

>^. .^<

I likes these claws almost as much
as I like licking Paw's yogurt off his spoon.
Almost.

Thanks for stopping by
& don't forget to get your daily eye candy quota filled
by visiting da other ladies!

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 25 Watercolor

Hello Dahlings!

Today I have my version of Japanese Painting for you...
& I stamped ON MY NAILS!
The use of watered ink on parchment scrolls
has a long history in Asia in general.
The Muromachi period in Japan's art history is primarily
watered black ink over a neutral background.

So that's what I did...

 Well, 4 out of 5 ain't bad!
I totally fudged up my middle nail,
but the rest came out pretty good.
I luvs my XL Squishy Stamper!

Da line up ~ L.A. Colors 659, Ruby Kisses Campaigned Out,
Finger Paints Warm He-art-ed & Black Expressionism

MoYou London Suki Collection - 07
I got this & a few other MoYou plates from Amazon.

Even the fine details of her face
turned out recognizable as human!
I may get da hang of this stamping on my nails thing yet.

Tomorrow ~ Graffiti

>^. .^<

I wants that cat treat Paw!
So Mr Inky threw it down the hall...

What?
This cat treat landed right in front of me...so I ate it.
It didn't have anybody's name on it or anything.
(you can tell this is Ziggy by da zig zagging tail)

Thanks for stopping by & please go visit da other ladies now!

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 24 Abstract

Hello Dahlings!

I am just barely keeping up at this point
(I painted today's nails last night),
but I am determined to finish this challenge on time!

Today's prompt ~ Abstract
My Inky brain went straight to Jackson Pollack
...and stayed there.
Back in da day, I worked at a jewelry studio
& one of da types of earrings we made
used paper that resembled Pollack's work.
We called it Modern Art
& I had all kinds of fun trying to match pairs
of dye cut shapes with various paint splatters for earrings.
It sure beat slinging hash.
(Which I've also done, so I can honestly compare the 2.)

I decided to stay true to Pollack's choice of color...

... for my version of Autumn Rhythm (number 30)

Da line up ~ Sally Hansen Polished Pearl, Sinful Colors GIDT,
Stampin' Up! Baked Brown Sugar, Shany Black 10 & White 09
plus a skinny coffee stir straw & my silicone decal template
(not shown: Milani Glosse', my go to decal base polish)

 I hadn't done a splatter mani yet!
Mostly due to a desire to avoid da clean up.
However, doing it on diy decals made it easy as can be!
I covered da templates for one hand with clear polish,
covering da separating lines so I'd have more options & let it dry.
I then went to town with my straw
starting with BBS then White then Black.
I was starting to get a lil dizzy by the end.
That was some blow job!
While the decals were drying,
I applied a coat of Sinful Colors over the Polished Pearl
that I had put on the day before.
I cut the 1" x 6" strip so as to get the best splatters
& applied them to my nails.
A coat of Seche Vite & I was done.
What?
You saw that GITD I listed & want to know how that part turned out?
Well...OK...

 Freakin' Awesome!
I have got to do this again using neon gitd.
I just have to!

Tomorrow ~ Watercolor

>^. .^<

Me likey these claws!
How's come one paw looks good & da other not so good?
You should do dem both good...I da cat & I say so!

Thanks for stopping by & please go check out da other ladies' fine art!

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 23 Oils

Hello Dahlings!

Sorry this post is wee bit late.
Between work & mine & Mr Inky's tummies,
I've been either too tired or we've been hungry & gone out to eat...
then I'm too tired when we get home to paint my nails. Blerg.
I did manage to get my challenge nails for today done this afternoon.

Today's prompt is Oils.
I decided to attempt an oil on canvas painting by Georges Malkine
& specifically one of his last paintings: La Mer 1970
(you will have to scroll down a bit
as the piece I'm badly copying is da 6th one down)
For what it's worth...

 Georges Malkine's La Mer 1970
I think if da black pen hadn't spit when it tripped
over da uneven layers of polish on my nails,
it might have ended better. Maybe.

Da line up ~ Sally Hansen Polished Pearl, Orly Buried Alive,
OPI The World Is Not Enough, China Glaze Unpredictable,
BB Couture Grasshopper, L.A. Colors Green Satin,
Sally Hansen Black & White Nail Art Pens

 Lobster Hand Alert!
I picked this polish up on sale cuz it's such an odd color
& I thought it might come in useful for nail art. It has.
This putty colored crème has a subtle gold sparkle
you can just see in this pic.
It also gives me a hideous case of lobster hands.
Mr Inky & I were in a candle lit Italian restaurant last night.
It was so dim I almost couldn't read da menu,
but Mr Inky asked why my fingers looked so red. Blerg.

Tomorrow ~ Abstract

>^. .^<

Eeeek!
Must hide from da lobster paws before dey eats my cuteness.

Sorry you had to see this, but I thank you for stopping by!
Please rescue your poor eyes by going to visit da other,
much more talented ladies, please?

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 22 Surrealism

Hello Dahlings!

Ah Surrealism! I think this is my all time fav art style.
Salvador Dali is my fav fav,
but Max Ernst is also fun as well as Joan Miro.
I was an art/design major in college.
I took art classes as my electives in grades 7-12.
I've learned a lot about da techniques, theory & history of art.
I in NO way have da talent to reproduce any of my fav pieces
of da art of these brilliant men on my nails or anywhere else.
So I went with something simpler to match my talent...

Bleu II by Joan Miro 1961
This is about my speed when it comes to reproducing da masters.
I wish I didn't have a wait problem
cuz it makes me techy
when I get smearing when applying top coat.
*droopy whiskers*

Da line up ~ China Glaze Splish Splash,
Kleancolor Oh So Hot, Madly Black & Madly Matte Top Coat.
not shown: small detail brush & dotter

Tomorrow ~ Oils

>^. .^<

Surrealism at my house: 7lb Ciri pinning 15lb Ziggy
so Ciri can chew on then lick Ziggy's ears
& Ziggy letting Ciri get away with it.

Thanks for stopping by!
Now please go tripping at da other blogs!

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 21 Snow Day

Hello Dahlings!

I don't think Missy knew how bad this winter would be
for so many peeps in da US
when she included Snow Day in da prompt list. LOL

Even so, I was glad to see it cuz I knew exactly what I wanted to do!
In December 2012, I did this mani for da challenge I was doing at da time.
I wanted to do something similar, but needed to alter da design
to account for my nails being much shorter this time.
So I did this...

Snow Critter!
I wasn't quite able to get the same level of detail
cuz I had a lot less area to work with. LOL
The main differences are that I added snow flake dots
& texture to this mani.
(I didn't even have any texture polish in 2012!)

Da line up ~ China Glaze Splish Splash,
Finger Paints Black Expressionism & Paper Mache
(yeah, I know I'm using these 2 polishes for like...
everything black & white of late,
but they're both great for all kinds of nail art
from base color to stamping to fine details,
plus I have them out so it's easy to just keep using them),
Sally Hansen Sugar Fix, China Glaze There's Snow One Like You
plus not shown: dotter & small detail brush

Tomorrow ~ Surrealism

>^. .^<

Dis cold stuff is deeper than last time you let me out to play in it!

My cat nip bush is still here...

 ...what's dis I sniff?

You can't sees me...I cat-muflaged!

Thanks for stopping by
& please go share da warm fuzzies with da other ladies!

Nail Art A Go Go Challenge! ~ Day 20 Pop Culture

Hello Dahlings!

Today's Pop Culture mani was a bit of a fail,
but I'm showing it to you cuz something interesting happened...

My thought was to do Nail Art as my Pop Culture theme.
I started with a base of white, then added a gradient.
(look at my thumb to see what the base is supposed to look like)
I made decals using a silver polish that I knew stamped well.
I applied my decals using the same Milani Glosse' clear polish
that I always use and got a watercolor-esque back ground
that all but obscured the stamping.
I like the serendipitous effect, but it isn't what I had in mind.

Da line up ~ Finger Paints Paper Mache, Savvy Party Pink,
Color Club Ultra Violet & Orly Dazzle
plus not shown:
Miliani Glosse', a bit of sponge & a small detail brush

I used images off these nail art plates:

 Bundle Monster BM401

 Cheeky CH10

Tomorrow ~ Snow Day
(I promise, this one turned out much better!)

>^. .^<

Oh noes! I can't even look at dat hot mess on your claws.

Thanks for stopping by
& please go look at da good nail art done by da other ladies!
